Abstract
Synchrotron radiation has been used to determine the crystal structure at low temperature of the small cytochrome c-553 (71residues) to 0.97 A and of urease (~230 kDa) native and inhibited at resolutions between 1.55 and 2.0 A. The resolution achieved for the cytochrome allowed us to solve the structure by an "ab initio" method, while the good quality and high resolution of the urease`s data allowed us to propose a new reaction mechanism based on the comparison between native and inhibited structures.
