ABSTRACT
In the last decade, InfraRed Synchrotron Radiation (IRSR) emitted from
bending magnets and insertion devices has become a powerful tool for basic
research and for technological applications. A discussion on the pecularities
of IRSR (spectral and spatial
distribution, brilliance and polarization degree) will be presented,
along with examples of applications in different scientific domains.
