Mapping the location and orientation of actin-binding proteins on actin
filaments

ABSTRACT
Often it is not possible to visualise directly the shape and location
of a whole molecule bound to an actin filament in 3D helical image
reconstructions. It is necessary to map the location and orientation
of such molecules using data derived from a combination of
methodologies: for example combining high resolution TEM, 3D helical
image reconstruction, crystallographic and biochemical approaches. Such
an approach will be discussed with reference to calponin.
