Status of the BESSY linac FEL project.

Abstract
BESSY in Berlin, Germany, proposes to construct a single-pass Free
Electron Laser for the VUV and soft X-ray spectral range (60 nm to 1.2
nm, or 20 eV
to 1 keV). Presently BESSY is involved in a detailed design study in
collaboration with several institutes. The design includes the use of the
DESY super conducting accelerator technology, advanced electron bunch
compression techniques and seeding schemes. In this seminar details of
the
design study will be highlighted.
