Abstract
Biomimetic surfaces aim on controlling the interaction of a solid interface with biological systems such as living cells, bacteria and large biomolecules (proteins, DNA). Supported membranes are an efficient way to generate biomimetic surfaces on a large variety of technologically relevant materials (Si, GaN, Polyelectrolytes). In this talk, I will report on a microfluidic setup which allows to study supported membranes using synchrotron radiation (20 keV). The setup allows also for optical characterization, thus the full range of fluorescence techniques is available. Using this setup, we recently study mixed membranes on SiO2, on thermoplasts, and on polyelectrolyte layers.
