The Undulator Systems for the European XFEL Project

Abstract
The European XFEL Project in Hamburg will be officially started on June 5, 2007. It will use the principle of Self Amplified Spontaneous Radiation (SASE). Emphasis is on 1 Angstroem radiation. In the presentation the XFEL Project is briefly outlined. An overview over ongoing R&D activities as well as first results obtained from first prototypes will be given. Mechanical engineering, motion control, magnetic measurement and tuning techniques as well as auxiliary components such as Phase shifters or quadrupoles are described in detail. A special problem is the large number of undulator segments required for the XFEL. The serial production strategy is also outlined.
