The High Power Distribution System for the FERMI@Elettra FEL

Claudio Serpico
Sincrotrone Trieste

Abstract
FERMI@Elettra is a 4th generation photon user facility, in the last phase of its construction stage, at the Elettra Laboratory in Trieste. FERMI is based on a warm S-band linac (1.5 GeV) and a single-pass seeded FEL, covering a photon range from UV up to soft X-ray. The accelerator consists of a new high-brightness electron source, 5 S-band linacs, a laser heater system for the control of uncorrelated energy spread, a 4th harmonic accelerating section to linearize the bunch charge, and two magnetic bunch compressors to increase the delivered peak current. The seminar will focus on the High Power Distribution System for the FERMI@Elettra FEL. A Systems Engineering approach to the project will be pointed up. Conceptual design, technical design and testing of the components and the RF conditioning of the systems will also be illustrated.
