The Nobel prize in physics 2023 - for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter

Abstract
In this talk I will present the physics and history of this year's Nobel prize in physics. I will present the background and important milestones in the field. The emphasis is on the experimental methods to generate high order harmonics and demonstrate that these harmonics can be phase locked to produce attosecond pulses.
