MagneDyn

Welcome to MagneDyn

The MagneDyn beamline at FERMI is a cutting-edge research tool that allows scientists to explore short-lived magnetic states in various materials. This opens up exciting new possibilities in areas such as ultrafast magnetism, advanced electronics, highly interconnected electron and magnetic systems, and carbon-based materials.
The beamline takes advantage of FERMI's advanced laser technology, which includes precise timing, full coherence, adjustable polarization, and the ability to produce multiple colors simultaneously. Two key techniques available at MagneDyn include the core level magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) and core level elastic/inelastic scattering.
In order to study ultrafast magnetodynamics, or the rapid changes in a material's magnetic properties, researchers conduct "pump-and-probe" experiments. These experiments use the FERMI laser on its own or in combination with a synchronized optical laser (SLU) to stimulate and then measure changes in the target system's magnetic behavior following electronic and crystal excitations. Overall, the MagneDyn beamline provides a unique opportunity to explore the rapidly changing world of magnetic materials and their potential applications.

EUV Polarimeter: Advancements in Polarization Detection

In the visible range, numerous polarimeters are available to discern the polarization state of light waves. However, the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) range is characterized by a scarcity of efficient and rapid polarimeters. To address this challenge, our team has developed an advanced polarimeter specifically designed for the EUV energy range. This innovative instrument is capable of detecting the linear polarization angle in single-pulse measurements, representing a significant enhancement in both technical and scientific capabilities for EUV polarization analysis.  A.
